On Monday, November 2, 2009, at 16.00, exhibition number 13 from the Young Romanian Art series will be opened in the New Gallery of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Venice, Italy. The exhibition is entitled 'roarchive', and it comprises works by Bogdan Bordeianu. The image selection is part of the photographer's contribution to RoArchive, a project initiated by Iosif Kiraly.
I live in a country which is in a continuous and chaotic transformation, with layers of different historical periods blending together. In this mixture of layers I try to focus on how things relate to each other and on the details that raise social or political questions.
I want to investigate the more and more ambiguous border between local and global, between past, present and future. I look at a contemporary urban or industrial landscape from a historical perspective, in order to find out what elements of the picture tell more about this period. Is it buildings, cars, or advertising?
Although one can’t see too many people in my photographs, they are very present through their actions and traces.
